Soft morning light over a quiet reading nook with a game controller and open lore journal

A calm corner for thoughtful gamers

Slow down. Read the lore. Hunt the relic.

Dragon Relic Empire is a Perth-based game blog for players who savour worlds instead of speed-running them — deep RPG lore, relic-hunting guides, and essays on mindful play.

Our story

Where relic-hunting meets a quieter kind of play

We started Dragon Relic Empire in a rented terrace off Aberdeen Street, tired of gaming coverage that treated every release like a race. Instead we write long — mapping forgotten questlines, cataloguing hidden relics, and asking what a world is trying to say.

Today the journal reaches readers across Perth and beyond, pairing weekly lore essays with unhurried strategy guides. No hype cycles, no rage-bait — just careful writing for players who want to feel a game rather than beat it.

How we work

From first playthrough to published essay

Every piece on the site follows the same slow, deliberate path. No rushed reviews, no day-one verdicts.

  1. 01

    Full playthrough

We finish the game before we write a word — main quests, side stories, and the quiet corners most reviews skip. Minimum 40 hours logged.

  2. 02

    Lore mapping

Names, timelines, and relics go onto a shared wall of index cards until the world's internal logic becomes clear enough to explain simply.

  3. 03

    Draft & verify

Every guide step is re-tested on a fresh save so directions actually hold. Claims about story beats are cross-checked against in-game text.

  4. 04

    Publish & discuss

Pieces go live Thursday mornings, then we host a Sunday reader thread to trade theories and corrections. Guides are updated as patches land.

"Your Relic Files piece on the Ashen Crown made me restart a game I'd shelved for a year. I finally saw the story I'd rushed past."

Marla T. — Fremantle, WA · March 2025

"The slow-play essays feel like they were written for burnt-out adults. I read one on the train home every Thursday and it resets my whole week."

Dev P. — Northbridge, WA · January 2025

"Guides that actually work. Every step in the Sunken Vault walkthrough matched my screen exactly, even after the patch. That never happens."

Anh L. — Perth CBD, WA · April 2025

"I came for a boss guide and stayed for the writing. It's rare to find gaming coverage this calm and this careful. No shouting, no spoilers dumped on you."

Jordan M. — Mount Lawley, WA · February 2025

"The Sunday reader threads are the best comment section on the internet. Thoughtful people, genuine theories, and moderators who actually read the lore."

Priya S. — Subiaco, WA · May 2025

"I've unsubscribed from every other gaming newsletter. This is the only one that respects my time and never tries to sell me a pre-order."
